The challenge
Alder’s board received four packs each month from four teams, and the numbers never quite agreed. Staff also worried about who could see member details in reports.
What we did
We ran a data governance review, agreed owners for each key figure and wrote a short data dictionary. We then built a single reporting layer that masks personal data by default and logs who looks at what.
The board pack became one consistent document with a plain-English page at the front. Behind it, the repayment risk view helps advisers contact members early and kindly, before arrears build up.
The result
Month-end close is nine days faster, the board reads one pack and the Information Commissioner’s Office guidance is built into how reporting works, not bolted on afterwards.
